Here is the recipe (by John Whaite) if you want to give it a go this weekend! The Highwayman, Berkhamsted
From the outside, The Highwayman looks like a run-of-the-mill former coaching inn. However, it definitely deserves a closer look. At the front of the house, there is an authentic pub, and downstairs at the back is a restaurant. The restaurant is delightful, beautifully laid out with a buzzing and vibrant atmosphere. The main menu had… Continue reading The Highwayman, Berkhamsted
Afternoon Tea at Ridgmont Station Tea Rooms
This is a delightful tea room situated in the former Victorian (1846) Ridgmont railway station building's Ladies Waiting Room. I've been here a few times previously in 2019 and think of it as a bit of a hidden gem. With my love of anything vintage and retro, it's right up my street. I've been keen… Continue reading Afternoon Tea at Ridgmont Station Tea Rooms
Churros, Churros, Churros!
It's been all about the churros recently. Here are some of my favourite ones I've tried in the last few months to moisten your tastebuds on a Monday morning. Revolution de Cuba, Nottingham. My rating- 7/10. Cabana, London. My rating- 8/10.
Profiteroles at Fotheringills
I thought I was going to skip pudding- I was wrong! The food at Fotheringills in Nottingham is amazing, but the profiteroles were the best out of all of them. Also recommended is the pork belly, but I decided just to focus on the profiteroles 🙂
Sweet Treats and Seafood in Brighton
As lockdown continues to ease across the UK, I thought I'd finally get around to writing a post on my trip to Brighton- or rather, the food I ate on my trip to Brighton. This trip was quite a while ago now, so my memory is unclear on a few things. Therefore, I decided to… Continue reading Sweet Treats and Seafood in Brighton
Pear and Frangipane Tart
I made this absolutely yummy pear and frangipane tart a little while ago. I'm not usually a fan of fruit-based puddings, but this was wonderfully sweet, with just the right amount of sharpness. It was the ideal Autumn/ Winter sweet treat. I froze some of mine to make it last longer. Prep time: 30 mins… Continue reading Pear and Frangipane Tart
Cosy Winter Afternoons With Cake
Happy New Year! I hope you've all been enjoying the time between Christmas and the end of 2020, and eating your body weight in sweet treats. I have- after all someone has to finish the Christmas goodies! Here is a delicious Victoria Sponge I enjoyed earlier this week, courtesy of The Lounge, a local coffee… Continue reading Cosy Winter Afternoons With Cake
Supporting the Homeless with Mince Pies
These almond frangipane mince pies were a real treat. Delightfully festive, with a twist on a traditional favourite, they taste great with a glass of mulled wine (or mulled wine tea). However, what makes them extra- special is that the ingredients were supplied by vegan bakery Poster Bakes, in partnership with homelessness charity The Connection… Continue reading Supporting the Homeless with Mince Pies
